Lisbon Sweeps On Diamond

LISBON - Timely hitting led to big innings as the Lisbon Baseball and Softball swept NAC West doubleheaders from Hermon-DeKalb on a cold damp Saturday morning.

Excellent field grooming by Elmer Parmeter allowed the Knights to play after Friday’s consistent downpour.

In baseball, the Golden Knights threw a pair of five-inning two-hitters in a 14-2 and 12-2 wins.

In softball, Lisbon earned wins of 7-2 and 5-3 as solid defense backed controlled pitching.

KNIGHTS BASEBALL ROLL

Jake Pellerin went 3-for-3 from the leadoff position and scored three runs and caught a solid game pitched by Donnie Duprey (three innings, one hit, three walks, and three strikeouts) and Logan Matthews (two innings, two walks, three strikeouts, one hit) in the first game. Matthews aided his cause with two hits while Reilly Alberto produced two singles. Donnie Seguin, Joey Pellerin, Alex Arduine, Duprey all singled once.

Ryan Matthews and Pat Perry singled for H-D.

In the nightcap, Lisbon broke open a 1-1 tie with six runs in the top of the fourth inning. Adam Kelley earned the win going four innings, striking out six, allowing three walks and two hits. Donnie Seguin pitched a shutout fifth inning.

Jake Pellerin supplied a 2-4 effort with a triple. Joey Pellerin went 3-for-3 while Alex Arduine went 2-3 with a double. Matthews (2-3), Jordyn Carr (1-3 double), Seguin (1-1), Alberto (1-3), Kelley (1-3), and Duprey (1-3) all contributed.

Harrison Chilton and Pat Perry each singled for H-D.

B-M Sweeps: Brushton-Moira swept Parishville-Hopkinton 16-2, 10-3 in a double-header. No details are available at presstime.

LADY KNIGHTS SWEEP

Claire Donaldson fanned six, walked five in a scattered eight hitter getting out of a sticky sixth inning jam with a strikeout in the first game.

Donaldson also delivered two hits while Nicole Neadom lined a single and scored twice.

Delaney Kerr produced three hits for H-D. Courtaney Davis supplied three singles while Brooke-Aly Tarner and Mykayla Fletcher each singled.

In the second game, Alyshia Murray drilled a double and a three run homerun while fanning six batters and without allowing a walk in a six-hitter.

Sierra Ashley, Donaldson and Katie Sovie all singled.

Courtaney Davis smacked a triple, Tarner supplied two singles and Chelsea MacKay, Brooke Woodrow and Kerr each singled for H-D.

MacKay took the loss with two strikeouts and six walks allowed.

BEARS DENY WILDCATS

Canton (6-5) scored a 3-0 NAC Central softball win over Gouverneur. Beth Pearson went 2-for-2 with a double and pitched a 14 strikeout, three hitter. Cianna Wilmart stroked a two run double in the fifth for insurance and Bailey Hurlbut connected for two singles. Mackenzie Rowe supplied two hits and fanned 13 batters in a five hitter for Gouverneur (4-6).

MASSENA LADIES SPLIT

Massena split with Saranac Central in nonleague play.

Massena lost a 2-0 first game as Tori Trimm pitched a eight strikeout, six hit shutout outdueling Reaghan Peets. Emily Webster supplied two hits for the winners.

Chelsea Streeter and Peets each singled twice while Amber Thomas and Emily Hurlbut each singled.

In game two, Massena won 5-4 scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh on a two run single by Taylor Day. Peets and Thomas stroked back to back singles and Bailey Dillabough drew a walk to load the bases.

Thomas went 4-5 while Day added two singles. Addie Rufa, Peets, Dillabough, Katelyn Malone, and Hurlbut all singled to back winning pitcher Vanessa Kirkey who fanned three and walk four in a 11-hitter. Brooke Campbell stroked a triple and two singles for Saranac Central.
