POTSDAM - Voters in the Potsdam Central School District approved the districts $28,196,659 budget by a vote of 555-144.
The now approved budget increases spending by 3.2 percent and carries a tax levy of $12,188,521. The 2.9 percent tax levy increase is under the districts maximum allowable levy.
Incumbents Wade A. Davis, 488 votes, Christopher C. Cowen, 481 votes, and Frederick C. Stone Jr., 381 votes, were each re-elected to the board. Former candidate Ann Carvill finished fourth in the voting with 327 votes.
Voters will also agreed to allow the district to bond for the purchase of three buses at a cost not to exceed $309,000, less trade-in value. This proposition received 550 yes votes compared to 146 no votes.
A count malfunction on one of the machines delayed the vote results. The initial results on one of the machines included votes from last years school board election as well as this years tallies, school officials said.
That initially tally had Ms. Carvill winning a seat on the school board with Mr. Stone finishing in fourth place on the ballot.
