GRAND LARCENY - MOIRA - Malone-based state police charged Tiffany R. Deno, 25, of Brushton with fourth-degree grand larceny Friday. Troopers said the arrest stemmed from an investigation into the theft of $1,110.58 in cash, lottery tickets and merchandise from the Mountain Mart, state Route 11 in Moira, where she was employed. The thefts occurred between the dates of April 14 and April 26, trooper said.
BURGLARY - GOUVERNEUR - Gouverneur-based state police charged Mark A. Weir, 44, of Gouverneur with a felony count of first-degree burglary after responding to a report of a burglary at 12:30 a.m. Monday at 1599 State Route 11 in the town of Gouverneur.
The 46-year old female victim at that address advised responding troopers that Weir broke into the residence and punched her in the face several times. Weir also choked her and threw her around the residence by her neck, causing the victim to sustain injuries, trooper said.
Weir was located and arrested on scene. He was in the town of Fowler Court and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear in court at 4 p.m. Friday.
