Norfolk: Ray E. Eldridge, 75, of Gladding Road, passed away Thursday (May 15, 2014) under the loving care of his family and Hospice. There will be no public calling hours.

Ray was born on June 7, 1938 in Helena, son of the late Ivan and Eleanor (White) Eldridge. He graduated from Massena High School in 1956 and married Mary Jandrew on December 31, 1959 in Malone, NY. Ray was a truck driver for over 25 years and retired from Seaway Motor Express after many years of dedicated service. Ray was an umpire for the old timer’s baseball league, an avid NY Yankees fan, and one of the first founders of the 420 Volunteer Fire Department.

Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; five children, Bonnie and Levi LaBaff of Massena, Dr. Jane Bradley of Alabama, Jennifer Eldridge of Massena, Cheryl and Rex Dunn of Massena, Carl and Jennifer (Pecore) Eldridge of Massena; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is also survived by three brothers, Donald and Galon of Brasher Falls, Franklin of Massena; four sisters, June Furnace, Anna Mae Gray and Marilyn O’Brien all of Massena, a twin sister Rayona Thompson of Winthrop.

Mr. Eldridge is predeceased by one sister, Jane Crump; two grandchildren, Jeffery Eldridge and Dahtez Gabriel Jones. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
