Mass of Christian Burial for Anne F. Lee, 88, of Gouverneur St, Canton will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary’s Church, Canton, with Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Anne died on Saturday, May 17, 2014 while surrounded by her family.

Friends may call at the O’Leary Funeral Home, 5821 US Hwy 11; on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church or St. Mary’s School, 66 Court Street; Canton, New York 13617, or to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11; Potsdam, New York 13617.

Anne is survived by a son, Michael Lee and his wife Marybeth of Annarbor, MI; by four daughters, Sandra Scarano and husband Arnold of Liverpool, NY; Janis Lee and husband Michael Secone of Canton; Joan White and husband Bill of Cranberry Lake, NY; Peggy Hayes and husband John of Canton and by a daughter in law, Wanda Lee of DeKalb. Also surviving are a brother, Harold Ames and wife Carol of Hannawa Falls; a sister, Ivy Martin of Potsdam, a brother in law, Donald Rood of South Carolina, and a sister in law Margaret Ames of Lafayette, and 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Anne is predeceased by a son, Mark Lee on September 29, 2013; two brothers, John & Merrill Ames and a sister Veronica Rood.

Anne was born October 22, 1925 in Canton, the daughter of the late John J. and Eva (Grandaw) Ames. She attended Potsdam High School. On May 12, 1948, she married D. Rolland Lee at St. Mary’s Church in Canton. Mr. Lee predeceased her on October 11, 2012. Anne started her working career at the Sheffield Farms in Canton as a secretary; she was a bookkeeper for various businesses in Canton including Lee’s Sales and Service. She also worked in food service at Canton College and she managed the Canton Teen Center in the 1960’s.

Anne was the driving force behind organizing the Canton Youth Bowling league in 1972 and she headed it for over 20 years. She was a Eucharistic minister and communicant of St. Mary’s Church, she was an avid bowler and gardener; she loved camping and was a member of the Canton Women’s softball league, although her greatest joy was her family.
