Mildred Trerise Collins


Mildred Trerise Collins passed away May 21, 2014 at the United Helpers Maplewood campus in Canton.

She was born April 29, 1931 in Parishville, NY, the daughter of Fern and Blanche (Willis) Trerise. After graduating from Parishville Hopkinton High School, Mildred married Fay L. Collins, on August 29, 1948, at the Parishville Methodist Church. The Collins made their home in Potsdam.

Mildred was a homemaker, former 4-H Club Leader, and member of the Hannawa Falls United Methodist Church. She was well known for her baking for family, friends, and church functions. She enjoyed gardening, and get togethers with family and friends.

Mildred is survived by six children: Connie Bates, of Ogdensburg, Cathy (and Ron) Trombley of Saranac Lake, Marty Collins of Lysander, NY, Debbie (and Bayliss) Lee of Massena, Timothy (and Kim) of Fulton, NY, and Michael (and Cathy) of Potsdam. A brother Clark (and his wife Vivian) Trerise of Colton, and a sister Marion Nandal, of Liverpool 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and nephews and nieces also survive.

Calling hours will be Friday, May 23rd at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam, from 3:00 to 8:00pm. A funeral will be held Saturday, May 24th at 11:00 am at Seymour Funeral Home, with Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to either the “Lily Fund:” at Hospice and Palliative Care, 6805 U.S. Highway 11, Potsdam, NY 13676, or to the Activities Fund of United Helpers Maplewood Campus, 205 State Street Road, Canton, NY 13617. Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
