POTSDAM - After clinching the Central Division banner on Wednesday, the Potsdam Central varsity baseball avenged its only NAC loss of the season Friday by gaining a 7-4 non-league win at home over Massena Central.
Both teams will get set to compete in their respective Section 10 tournaments starting next week with Potsdam 12-2) earning the top seed for the Class B playoffs and Massena (12-3) looking to defend the Class A title when it takes on Franklin Academy in this years title game.
In the win over the Raiders, Connor Prosper pitched five solid innings to earn the decision, striking out two while allowing two runs before giving way to Jacob Keleher and Will Coleman, who each fanned two batters in an inning of relief. Rory Corcoran was saddled with the loss while Jacob Vierno came on to pitched the final two innings.
Trevor Keleher also played a lead role offensively with a double and single. Jacob Keleher connected for a pair of singles. Coleman and Prosper each launched a double while Nate Gingrich singled.
Connor Paquin and JP Reagan had three hits apiece in the losing effort as the Raiders outhit the Sandstoners 13-7. Isaac Ward singled and doubled. Patrick Manning rapped a pair of singles while Isaiah Dillabough, Tyler Haas and Cameron Marsh each singled once.
