LIVERPOOL - The Massena Central and Potsdam Central girls lacrosse teams both fell short to their Section 3 counterparts in the first round of their respective New York State tournaments at the Liverpool High School field on Thursday.

CBA 20, Massena 4: Samantha McKenna scored five goals and assisted on another to lead Section 3’s Christian Brothers Academy to a win over the Red Raiders (13-5) in a first-round game of the Class B state playoffs at Liverpool High School.

Maddie Cook, Evie Lopoo and Rachel Vercillo each added two goals for the Brothers (16-3). Katie Anderson, Ryan Congel, Hailey Dobbins, Amanda Fess, Lilly Hunt, Claire Jeschke and Hannah Werner added single goals for CBA.

Jacelyn Lazore scored three goals for the Lady Raiders while senior Shannon Casey connected for the other and Felicity Love stood tall making 11 saves.

“I thought we did a lot of nice things tonight and Felicity was just unbelievable in goal,” said coach Jeffrey Slack. “Our girls played hard the whole game. CBA just played on a different level than we did.”

Hannah Drechsel and Annette Rishe scored for Potsdam (14-5) while Katelyn Bloom was credited with two saves working the crease.
