Mohawk Raceway hoping third try will be the charm for 2014 season debut

AKWESASNE - Mother Nature has not been kind to Mohawk International Raceway early in the 2014 season.

Rain, and wet grounds postponed and eventually cancelled the scheduled opener, and more rain over the past two Friday night’s has forced track officials to cancel once again. This Friday night, we will make another attempt to get the 2014 started with an action packed night lined up featuring a 50 lap Memorial Cup event for the Modifieds as part of the Frenchie’s “Chevy Runs Deep” Series as well as a regular show for Sportsman, Mod Lites and Bandits.

Last Friday night, just before it rained we did complete the qualifying heats for Mod Lites and Bandits, so their features from last Friday night will take place before the racing begins. It will also be driver autograph night at intermission, with fans getting a chance to interact with their favorite driver and see the cars up close.

To those of you that were in attendance last week, it is important that you bring your ticket stub/wristband and that you had it signed and dated by an MIR staff member before you left last week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Tricia at the MIR office. For drivers that drew for positions coming through the gate on May 23rd, the draw will be used for this evening. There will not be a re-draw as you enter that track on Friday night.

If you don’t have a rain check from last week, the General Admission price is just $20. Kids 12 and under are $8. Pit Admission with DIRTcar license is $30US and non-member pricing is $35US. Pit Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and General Admission area will open at 5pm. Racing gets underway at 7:30p.m. Please note that the currency exchange rate is 10% on the Canadian dollar at both gates and at the concession stand.
