WINTHROP – Mr. David A. Derushia, 52, of Reservation Street, passed away Monday afternoon, May 26, 2014 at Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake, with his loving family by his side.

David was born April 19, 1962 in Massena, the son of the late Allen F. and Doreen M. Lamora Derushia and attended school at St. Lawrence Central.

David was the owner of The Preservation Specialist, a home improvement company. He was also an avid musician and enjoyed singing, drumming, playing guitar, and had also recorded gospel music. David truly enjoyed helping anyone who needed help and loved to make people laugh. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

David is survived by his children, Misty Donalis and her companion, Chris LeFrancois of Massena; Austin Derushia of Winthrop; Seth Donalis and his fiancÚ Erika Thompson of Massena; Abraham and David Derushia, both of Massena; his grandchildren, Layla, Tyler, and Celia; his sisters, Cindy and Robert Whitehead of Winthrop and Lorraine and Thomas Rushlow of Massena; his brother, Steve and Janet Derushia of Fort Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to share stories and memories at a celebration of his life on Saturday, June 7th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. Burial of his cremated remains will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Brasher Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association.
