Funeral services for Mavis Simmons, age 65, of Delaney Rd., Ogdensburg will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Frary Funeral Home with Rev. David Piatt officiating. Interment will be in Foxwood at a later date. Ms. Simmons passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.

Ms. Simmons is survived by her long time companion, Gary Wilson; two sons, William and his wife, Marcia, of Heuvelton and Anthony and his wife, Tammy, of Gouverneur; one daughter, Jolene Putney of Fayetteville; two brothers, Elden “Bub” Conant and his wife, Cathy, of Ogdensburg and Ronald Conant and his wife, Mary, of Ogdensburg; three sisters, Betty Hamilton of Ogdensburg, Elva Scott of Arizona and Linda Holmes and her husband, Walter, of Heuvelton; and five grandchildren, Chelsey Simmons, Mackenzie Simmons, Taylor Simmons, Zachary Simmons and Lukas Putney. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Bernice and her parents.

Ms. Simmons was born in Ogdensburg on November 30, 1948 to Rodney J. and Eileen Exelby Conant. She graduated from Heuvelton High School ini 1967. She worked for McCadam Cheese from 1973 until 1983 when she retired due to ill health. She enjoyed reading, visiting the casino, her cats, Sammy and Bruiser and mowing her yard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Heuvelton First Responders and Fire Department or the Ogdensburg Rescue Squad.
