SCAM WARNING - POTSDAM - Village police said they receive a report Saturday morning of an elderly person that has been scammed out of thousands of dollars after being told that if she paid so much moneyshe would receive millions.

These calls are not legitimate, Potsdam Police stressed.

If you or a family member receives such a call, please check with other family members or contact this department at 315-265-2121to determine the validity of the claim.Please do not wire transfer money via Western Union Services, Money Pak Cards or other money transfer services without first verifying the validity of the claim, according to police.

These are commonly done at drugstores, Walmart and other retail outlets.



INADEQUATE PLATE LAMPS - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed William S. Yette,18, of Potsdam for operation of a vehicle withno/inadequate plate lamps at 2:29 a.m. Saturday following a traffic stop on Market Street.



UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - POTSDAM - Village police charged Kameron M. Perry, 19, of Potsdam with unlawful possession of marijuana at 2:29 a.m. Saturday. Perry was in possession of a small amount of marijuana found during a traffic stop of a vehicle operated by William S. Yette on Market Street. Perry was a passenger in the Yette vehicle.



NO SEAT BELT - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed D. M. Scoville-Upham, 37, of Potsdamfor failure to wear a seat belt at 2:02 p.m. Saturday following a traffic stop on Sandstone Drive.



BUCKLE UP NY - POTSDAM - Village police ran a Buckle Up NY detail Saturday evening. Those ticketed included:

■ Julie M. Hollis, 22, of West Senecafor no seat belt at 4:29p.m. on Sandstone Drive.

■ Thomas W. Plimpton, 48, of Perufor speed in zone (60mph/30mph zone) at 4:30p.m. on Madrid Avenue.

■ Andrea M. Malik, 51, of Coltonfor no seat belt at 4:50p.m. on Park Street.

■ Patrick David, 42, of Akwesasne, Ont., for no seat belt at 5:21 p.m. on Market Street.

■ Kathleen M. Carranza, 55, of Cantonfor illegally passing a red light at 5:57p.m. on Market Street.

■ Charles E. Peterson, 23, of Potsdam for speed in zone (45mph/30mph zone) at 7:06p.m. on Lawrence Avenue.

■ Ronald C. Keyes, 58, of Waddingtonfor no seat Belt at 8:10p.m. on Market Street.
