CJ’s-Chip’s Place ties S&L Electric; Massena S&L tops Frary’s


SOUTH COLTON — CJ’s-Chip’s Place battled S&L Electric to a 1-1 tie in a North Country Men’s Summer Soccer encounter at Swift Field on Wednesday.

Willi Steinrotter opened the scoring for CJ’s-Chip’s Place when he converted off an assist from Grant Sharlow but Devin Gruneisen tied the game by finishing off a play set up by Mike Bonno to make it 1-1 at the half.

Tim Penrod made nine saves working the CJ’s-Chip’s Place crease while the S&L goalie stopped nine shots.

In the other Wednesday evening matchups, Massena Savings and Loan-Kassian Realty downed Ogdensburg Frary 5-1, Cornerstone Energy Services-SeaComm edged St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union 2-1, North Country Savings beat Ogdensburg Pepsi-The Place 3-1 and AMP-Jreck Subs outscored Heuvelton 3-1.

MSL-Kassian 5, Frary 1: At Mike Nicholas Field in Massena, Jason Hammill led the winning attack with a pair of goals. Ryan Chauvin generated a goal and assist. Anthony Cortese and Josh Tiernan broke through for the other goals while Connor Dix, James Hunt and Jeffrey Slack recorded solo assists.

Chris Frary countered with the lone goal for Frary’s.

CES-SeaComm 2, SLFCU 1: At Clarkson’s Hantz Field, Donnie Wilhelm scored in the losing effort.

NC Savings 3, Pepsi-The Place 1: At the Kennedy School field in Ogdensburg, Alex Minsker struck for a pair of goals while Colby Young fashioned a pair of assists in the winning effort. Shawn Brown connected for the other Canton goal while Tyler Gallagher logged an assist and Austin Lamay made five saves backstopping the win.

AMP-Jreck Subs 3, Heuvelton 1: Lucas Brown and Dustin Harper each tallied a goal and assist in the winning effort. AJ Doran struck for the other goal while Andrew Guimond logged a solo helper.

TJ Jacobs scored in the losing cause.
