LISBON - The third annual Section 10 High School Skills and Conditioning Soccer Camp at Lisbon Central School has been scheduled for Aug. 11-14 at three soccer fields on the Lisbon Central complex. The camp is open to both boys and girls and will hold a morning session from 8-11:30 a.m. for students in grades seven through 12 and an afternoon session from 1 to 2:30 p.m. for students in grades three through six.
The session for students in grades 7-12 is a high school preseason skills and conditioning camp and will include goaltenders camp. During the 7-12 grade session, camp will run from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and 8 a.m.-noon on Thursday which is game day. The 7-12 Grade fee is $100 per camper with a deadline of July 31. Late sign-ups fee after July 31 is $120.
The session for students in grades 3-6 is the Lisbon Soccer Camp and will concentrate on basic skills and fundamentals and the fee is $50. Both camps are sponsored by Howland Pump, Pepsi Cola, Mort Backus and Sons, Midstate Club Car and 1470 WPDM-CBS Sports Radio 99.3 and will be limited to first 150 paid registrants. Last year’s camps were both very successful and based on the number inquires received already this year’s camps are expected to reach capacity.
Lisbon Central Boys Soccer Coach Bill Reed will direct the camp and instruction for the Grades 7-12 will be provided by Kelley Geary and Dickie Marcellus of the Lisbon Central Boys Soccer staff, Lisbon Girls Soccer Coach Scott Richardson, OFA Boys Soccer Coach Matt Morley, Colton-Pierrepont Boys Soccer Coach Jim Nee, Potsdam Coach Al Benda, Canton Boys Soccer Coach Matt Caufield, Canton Girls Soccer Coach Greg Kiah, Harrisville Boys coach Shane Countryman, Heuvelton Girls Soccer Coach Gus Burns and former Canton Boys Soccer Coach Roger Dusharm who is a member of the New York State Soccer Hall of Fame.
“Harrisville’s Shane Countryman and Heuvelton’s Gus Burns are both joining the staff. They both run great programs and were really happy to have them at our camp,” said Reed. Massena Girls Soccer Coach Ryan Hayes, a Madrid-Waddington standout who enjoyed a fine college career, will coach the goalies.
