CANTON - St. Lawrence NYSARC (www.slnysarc.org), a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to working for and with people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, conducted the 34th annual Fundraiser last week at the RLL Center in Canton during a concert featuring the band, Flame.
St. Lawrence NYSARC thanks the Down Syndrome Society of SLC for their presenting sponsorship of Flame.
Other sponsors for the event included Kinney Drugs Foundation, Team Blevins, Casella Waste, Canton Community Fund, Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas, and Price Chopper.
The agency sold 3,639 certificates for a gross profit of $30,055. Elswood Love of West Stockholm won the grand prize of $10,000 cash. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support Dodge Pond, the area’s only fully accessible camp designed specifically for people with disabilities.
Each year, more than 300 people enjoy vacationing in an environment specially equipped and staffed for their individual needs.
Daphne Pickert, CEO/executive director of St. Lawrence NYSARC, expressed appreciation for the community’s support of the fundraiser.
“Our fundraising efforts are only successful because of support from local business partners with prize donations and from community members who purchase tickets,” Pickert said. “Thanks to all of you - we can offer a safe, outdoor experience for people with disabilities; even during these challenging economic times.”
