Cj’s-Chip’s Place booters turn back Massena

POTSDAM - CJ’s-Chip’s Place improved to 4-0-1 with a 3-1 win over Massena Savings and Loan-Kassian Realty in North Country Men’s Summer Soccer action from the SUNY Potsdam turf field on Wednesday.

CJ’s-Chip’s Place jumped on to a 2-0 lead on goals by Tony Betrus, off an assist from Zak Votra, and Grant Sharlow, off an assist from Grant Sharlow.

Massena cut the deficit to 2-1 before halftime when Tyler Jaquith connected from Ryan Chauvin.

Adam diVincenzo sealed the win by converting on a penalty kick for the lone goal of the second half after Cook had been tackled on a breakaway attempt.

Ben Steinberg made eight saves backstopping the win while Alan Davis turned aside 10 shots, including a penalty kick in the first half, working the Massena crease.

In the other Wednesday night matchups, S&L Electric of Colton blanked Cornerstone Church-Town and Country Vets of Heuvelton 6-0, Cornerstone Energy-SeaComm of Potsdam battled North Country Savings Bank of Canton 2-2, Lisbon outscored AMP-Jreck Subs 3-1 and Ogdensburg Pepsi-The Place stopped Frary Funeral Home 5-0.

S&L Electric 6, Heuvelton 0: Alex Bonno and Jeremy Dunning tallied two goals and an assist each to anchor a balanced effort in the win. Devin Gruneisen generated a goal and assist. Jeff McGregor struck for the other goal while Mike Bonno drew a pair of assists.

CE-SeaComm 2, NC Savings 2: Blake Hence and Matt Konecnik scored for the Potsdam booters.

Travis Jordan scored the first goal for NC Savings which tied the game with three minutes left in regulation.

Lisbon 3, AMP-Jreck’s 1: The teams battled to a 1-1 halftime draw before Lisbon produced a pair of unanswered second-half goals to come away with the win.

Brek Murray netted two goals in the winning effort while Donnie Wilhelm connected for the other.

Andrew Guimond converted on a corner kick by Gian Rufa to account for the lone AMP-Jreck’s goal.

Pepsi-The Place 5, Frary 0: In a matchup of two Ogdensburg teams, Dave Connor and Matt Piercey scored in the winning effort.
