AKWESASNE - Two people were charged Monday after police busted a reported indoor marijuana growing operation on Akwesasne.
In a press release issued Wednesday by the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, they said St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police served a search warrant at the residence of Stacey Smoke, 15 Cree Road, Akwesasne, and seized 11.215 pounds of marijuana, 16 marijuana plants and numerous devices associated with an indoor growing operation.
Mr. Smoke was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in Bombay Town Court and sent to the Franklin County Jail on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
Cheyenne M. Ransom was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released under supervision.
Assisting the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department were the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office, the Franklin County Border Narcotics Task Force, the New York State Police Narcotics Unit and K-9 and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Drug Enforcement Agency.
