ATTEMPTED CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - POTSDAM — St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Jed J. Saucier, 60, of 103 Park St., Potsdam, with second-degree attempted criminal contempt and offering a false instrument, both misdemeanors, stemming from an investigation into an incident that occurred on June 3.

Deputies allege Saucier attempted to purchase a 20 gauge shotgun from the Walmart in Potsdam following a Feb. 24 St. Lawrence County Family Court Order of Protection that prohibited him from possessing or buying any firearms. Deputies also allege that Saucier filed false information on the paperwork with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Saucier was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Potsdam Town Court.
