Canton man jailed following traffic stop in Canton


AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION - CANTON - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Michael A. Hooper, 35, of 11 Jameson Road, Lot 36, Canton, with driving while intoxicated and a felony count of first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop Tuesday on Route 11 in the town of Canton. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher is considered proof of intoxication in the state. Hooper was arraigned in Norfolk Town Court on the felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle count and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with no bail set. The local court was unable to set bail since Hooper has two or more prior felony convictions.
