Massena: Edwin J. Hosley, 91 of Massena, formally of Long Lake passed away on June 22, 2014 with his loving family by his side and under the care of Hospice. A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 11:30 am at Long Lake Cemetery located in Long Lake, NY.

Edwin was born May 09, 1923 in Long Lake, NY, son of the late Roy and Catherine (Morrison) Hosley. He attended Long Lake Schools followed by enlisting into the United Stated Army Air Corps where he served in the 8th Air Force during WWII while being stationed in England.

Edwin married Rita Clement on September 28, 1946 at St. Henry’s Church in Long Lake. After his dedicated service to his country, Edwin worked as an equipment operator for over 30 years at National Lead Industries located in Tahawus, NY. He then worked at ALCOA as a general mechanic retiring after 10 years of service.

Edwin was an avid golfer and could always be found out on the course. He was a member of the American Legion Post #79 in Massena and past member of the Long Lake Fire Department.

Edwin is survived by his wife Rita of Massena; a son, James and wife Johanna Hosley of Milton, DE; a daughter, Judy and husband Bradford Johnson of West Yarmouth, MA; four grandchildren, Sean Johnson, Melisa Vaughn, James Hosley and Jillian Papola; five great-grand children, Henry Johnson, Caroline Johnson, Tristan Hosley, Tommy Papola and Jackson Vaughn; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hosley is predeceased by eight sisters and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edwin’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 U.S. 11, Potsdam, NY 13676 or VFW Post 3120, 196 Park St
