Potsdam Cornerstone, S&L Electric booters net shutout wins

Potsdam Cornerstone and S&L Electric of Colton both netted shutout wins in North Country Men’s Summer Soccer matchups on Wednesday.

Cornerstone 6, Heuvelton 0: Ebuka Ononye anchored a balanced attack with a pair of goals in the winning effort. Blake Hence, Aaron Cote, Josh Prashaw and Pat Normandin each tallied singletons.

S&L Eletric 2, AMP-Jreck Subs 0: Gyle Dominy and Jeremy Dunning broke through for the goals while Alex Bonno and Devin Gruneisen each drew assists.

In the other games of the night, Ogdensburg Pepsi-The Place outscored CJ’s-Chip’s Place 3-2, SeaComm Credit Union edged Massena Savings and Loan-Kassian Realty 1-0 and North Country Savings of Canton beat Frary Funeral Home 3-0.

Pepsi-The Place 3, CJ’s-Chip’s Place 2: At the Kennedy School Field in Ogdensburg, the visiting squad from Potsdam went ahead 2-1 in the second half on an assisted goal by Chris Negron before surrendering the final two goals.

Matt Piercey opened the scoring for Pepsi-The Place early in the first half before Ted Cook knotted the score by converting from close range on a pass from Shawn Lillie.

Tim Penrod made six saves as CJ’s-Chip’s Place suffered its first loss of the season.

Lisbon 1, Massena 0: At the Lisbon Central School field, Shaun Murray scored off an assist from Adam Felt for the only goal of the game as Scott Wilhelm handled the 10 shots he faced backstopping the shutout.

Alan Davis worked the Massena crease.

Canton 3, Frary 0: Nate Butler, Loren Traynor and Mario Riccardi connected for the goals while Colby Young fashioned a pair of assists in the winning effort. Austin Lamay made five saves in posting the shutout.
