NNY Box Lacrosse Registration
BRASHER FALLS - The Northern New York Box Lacrosse League, based at the Tri-Town Arena, is gearing up for the start of the 2014 season.
The league offers competition in three levels. The Elementary Division is open to players entering grades 1-6 this fall and plays its games starting at 5:30 p.m. with a half-hour of instruction followed by a 30 minute game. The division is open to the first 36 players who register. The High School Division is open to players entering grades 7-12 with games starting at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Adult Division, which stages pick-up games with no set lineups, is open to all players beyond the high school level.
The cost for Elementary Division players is $85 which includes a jersey for the first 36 to register. The High School Division fee is $95 and includes a jersey to the first 48 players to sign-up. Family packages are available.
The season is slated to open Wednesday, July 9, and will end on Tuesday, August 12 with the playoff championship. Each team will play 11 games.
Anyony interested in competing must register by this Sunday.
All players wear a helmet, gloves, arm pads and shoulder pads and supply their own mouthpiece. Equipment is available from local high schools, including sticks. Players are asked to arrive 30 minutes before the start of their first games on July 9.
The league is also seeking sponors for the two Elementary Division and four High School Division teams.

Second Summer Sunset Run July 8
CANTON - The Stillman Foote Running Club will hold the second race of the 2014 Summer Sunset 5K Series on Tuesday, July 8, at 7:30 p.m. on the Stillman Foote cross-country course on the St. Lawrence University campus.
This summer marks the 35th season for the series which attracts hundreds of runners and walkers of all abilities from Northern New York and Canada to compete on the fast, flat 3.1 mile loop course at SLU. Participants will be competing to earn a coveted Summer Sunset T-shirt which will be awarded to those completing all three events.
In addition to the 5K race, a one-mile fun run will be held. Designed for young runners, walkers, and beginning runners, the one-mile event will begin at 7:15 p.m., prior to the 5K start. Competitors in all three one-mile runs will also receive T-shirts.
Registration for the June 12 race will begin at 6:30 p.m. across Park Street from the Augsbury Physical Education Center on the SLU campus. Series fee is $5 or $2 per race (US & Canadian). Summer Sunset #3 is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12.

Clarkson Summer Camps Scheduled
POTSDAM - The Clarkson University athletic department has announced dates for summer baseball, girls basketball and volleyball camps.
The baseball camp is slated to run July 7-11 with daily sessions going from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The camp is open to players ages 7-12. The cost is $125. A $50 non-refundable deposit for each applicant is due by July 1.
The girls basketball camp is scheduled for June 29-July 2 at Alumni Gym. The daily sessions will go from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. The cost for overnight campers is $475 and for the extended day camp is $355.
The volleyball camp will be going from July 31-August 3 at Alumni Gym with sessions beginning at 7 a.m. The camp is open to girls ages 10-18. The cost for overnight campers is $465 and for the extended day camp is $365.

Clarkson Youth Girls Hockey Camp
POTSDAM — The Clarkson University women’s hockey program, winner of the 2014 NCAA National Championship, will be holding a Girls Youth Hockey Camp at Cheel Arena this summer for Mite, Squirt and PeeWee levels.
A camp will run for girls from August 17-21 for Mite, Squirt and Pee Wee level players ages 7-12. The camp will run from 9 a.m.-noon, Monday through Friday.
Camp highlights will include; skating drills focusing on generating power, skill development focusing on puck handling, passing, shooting and team concepts.
Campers will also be introduced to proper nutrition and hockey specific conditioning. There will be controlled scrimmages supervised daily by coaches and staff.
Cost of the camp is $160 for player and $125 for goalie. Cost for a player of a Clarkson employee is $135. All prices are in U.S. funds. A practice jersey is included.

SLC Mall Arena Summer Hockey
MASSENA - The St. Lawrence Centre Arena is now accepting registrations for its summer hockey leagues, camps and clinics.

Hockey leagues are available for Squirt/Atom, PeeWee, Bantam, and Midget level players with games played in a 5-on-5 full-ice format.

PYSA Summer Training Academy
POTSDAM - The Potsdam Youth Soccer Association will be hosting a summer training academy from July 1-August 7.
Open to youths in the U4-U12 divisions, the academy sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thurdsay evenings at the Potsdam Central fields.
The U4-U6 sessions are slated to run from 6-7 p.m. at the turf field. The U8 sessions go from 6-7 p.m. on the outfield of the varsity softball field. U10 sessions are slated to run from 6-7:30 p.m. on the outfield of the varsity baseball diamond while the U12 division will go from 6-7:30 p.m. at the grass field behind AA Kingston Middle School.

Second Norwood Duathlon Race July 22
NORWOOD - The second leg of the always popular Norwood Beach Duathlon series will be held Tuesday, July 22.
Registration at the pavilion begins at 6 p.m. and the race will start at 6:30 p.m. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent signature on the registration form in order to participate.
The final race in the series will be held on Tuesday, August 19.
Once again the series is open to individuals and teams. The entry fee is $15 for the series which includes a tee-shirt. The entry fee for a single duathlon is $5 and t-shirts will be available for $5.
All proceeds will go to the John Purvis Memorial Scholarship Fund at Norwood-Norfolk Central School.

Ladies Golf Lessons at PTCC
POTSDAM - The Potsdam Town and Country Club is hosting a Ladies Learning to Play Golf Association on Tuesday afternoons until August 24.
The weekly sessions will begin at 4:45 p.m. with a half-hour lesson from head Club Pro Craig Siddon followed at 5:15 p.m. with nine holes of golf with a cart. The sessions end with a drink and appetizer at the clubhouse.
The cost is $30 per session or $125 for five.

Junior Golf Clinics at Massena CC
MASSENA - The Massena Country Club will be hosting a series of golf clinics for junior golfers.
The clinics are slated for Tuesday mornings (July 8, July 15, July 22) starting at 9 a.m. They will cover all aspects of the game including but not limited to; etiquette, grip, stance, Alignment, metalwoods, iron play, chipping, pitching, bunker shots, putting and the rules of golf.
Club pros Tom Siddon and Brent Smith will be serving as instructors. The cost is $30 per student and the clinics will be open to the first 20 students to register.

Massena Summer Basketball Camp
MASSENA — The Massena Basketball Association will be holding a summer basketball camp for boys and girls entering grades 2-12 at the high school gym from June 30-July 3.
Session 1 runs from 9 a.m.-noon and is for students heading into grades 2-6 and Session 2 goes from 1-4 p.m. for students entering grades 7-12. The camp fee is $60 per student.
Sessions include work on skill development, team play, foul shooting and guest lectures. Daily 3-on-3 and 1-on-1 tournaments are slated along with other contests.

Summer Teen Tennis Program
MASSENA - A teen tennis program is slated to run Tuesday evenings until July 15 at the Alcoa Field courts.
The weekly sessions will begin at 6 p.m. and will offer players the opportunity to compete against players from other area communities. Depending on the response from the surrounding areas, matches may be scheduled to be played at other sites.
Along with players, adults to serve as coaches and assistants are also being sought.

Section 10 Soccer Officials Meeting
CANTON - The Upstate Soccer Officials’ Association will hold probationary training for people interested in officiating soccer games in Section 10 at the modified, junior varsity and varsity levels.
