CANTON — St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies charged Trista D. LaDue, 23, of 14 Malby Ave., Massena, with a felony count of first-degree promoting prison contraband and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance Monday after she was found in possession of a small quantity of heroin during a cell search at the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton.
Ms. LaDue had been jailed Sunday on a bench warrant for allegedly violating the conditions of her probation supervision on a second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument charge.
Deputies said an unidentified tan powder substance was located in Ms. LaDue’s living area during the cell search, and the sheriff’s department K-9 had a positive alert for the presence of illegal narcotics. The substance field-tested positive for heroin, deputies said.
Ms. LaDue was arraigned on the new charges in Pierrepont Town Court and sent back to the county jail on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. She also is being held on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond on the alleged probation violation.
