FC Freeze U18 boys soccer team blanks General Brown

CANTON - The FC Freeze U18 boys team relay a 1-0 halftime lead into a 4-0 victory over the General Brown Soccer Club on Thursday night in Northern New York Youth Soccer League action at the SLU campus.

Potsdam’s Pat Normandin scored two goals, Parishville-Hopkington’s Wyatt Snell netted a pair and Lisbon’s Adam Kelley passed out a pair of assists to pace the offense.

Lisbon’s Nick Spooner stopped seven shots to post the shutout with Canton’s Keegan Sovay and Malone’s Pat Bowman anchorning the fullback play.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

In North Country Women’s Summer Soccer on Thursday, Massena blanked Brasher Falls 3-0 and the FC Freeze outscored Heuvelton 3-2.

Massena 3, Brasher Falls 0: Heather Morrow netted a pair of goals in the winning effort off assists from Dominique Valancius and Jessica Purvis. Kristen Borgosz finished off a play set up by Ashley Hawn to account for the other goal while Courtney Manley turned aside the 10 shots she faced backstopping the win.

MEN’S SOCCER

A North Country Men’s Summer Soccer game played on Wednesday saw Frary Funeral Home of Ogdensburg down Massena Savings and Loan-Kassian Realty 3-1 at the Kennedy School Field.

Jordan Spears and Matt Gladle scored early goals to put Frary’s ahead 2-0 before David Phillips broke through for the lone Massena goal to make it a one-goal deficit at the half.

Spears then sealed the win with his second of the game.

Alan Davis had six saves in the losing cause.
