CANTON - Price Chopper supermarkets issued a recall on eight-inch, double-crust apple pies sold in the bakery department beginning June 26 because the pies could contain blue plastic wrap.
The company did not specify in a news release Thursday whether any pies have been found with the plastic wrap inside them. The pie’s Universal Product Code is 41735-23516.
In St. Lawrence County, Price Chopper has stores in Canton, Potsdam, Massena, Gouverneur and Ogdensburg.
A manager at the Price Chopper in Ogdensburg said Thursday that several of the pies were sold, but the product was pulled from the shelves Wednesday when the recall was announced.
Customers with the affected product should return it to their local Price Chopper for a full refund.
Customers who purchased the product have been notified using Price Chopper’s SoundBite notification program, which uses purchase data and consumer phone numbers on file in connection with the company’s AdvantEdge loyalty card to alert those households that may have purchased the pies.
