A funeral for 73-year old Mr. Leo F. McDonald of Potsdam will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam, with Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, July 19 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Mr. McDonald Died July 15, 2014 at the Highland Nursing Home, in Massena where he had been a patient for several days.

Survivors include a son, Brian McDonald of Potsdam; three daughters: Kelly (Randy) Davis of Potsdam, Bonnie (Dan) Cremer of Horseheads, NY, Sherry (Edward) Simon of Hannawa Falls, NY; eight grandchildren: Billy Davis, Crystal Horton, Travis Davis, Deanna Hughes, Melissa Cremer, Kyle Simon, Ethan Urtz, Brock Simon, and several great grandchildren. Of his several cousins, he is survived by Bernice Taylor of Hopkinton.

Leo was born in Potsdam, NY August 5, 1940, the son of Frederick A. and Velma P. (Moffitt) McDonald. He attended Potsdam High School, and served in the U. S. Navy from 1958 through 1959. On October 24, 1960 he married Mary Jane Crump at the Methodist Church in Potsdam. The marriage ended in divorce.

He was employed for 42 years with the Town of Potsdam Highway Dept., where he retired as Foreman. An avid hunter and fisherman, Leo liked to cook, and enjoyed time spent with family. He was fond of wrestling, and followed the sport on television.

Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
