NORFOLK - Norfolk Town Police charged a 68-year-old Norfolk man Wednesday following an alleged attempted abduction.
John W. Michaud, of 24 Hepburn St., Norfolk, was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation of the reported attempted abduction.
They alleged that Michaud stopped his pickup truck at the corner of Bank and Morris streets in Norfolk and asked an 11-year-old girl if she wanted a ride. He also allegedly tried to get the girl to go with him by telling her that her mother had sent him to pick her up. When the child refused to go with Michaud, he drove away from the scene, police said.
He was arraigned by Norfolk Town Justice George Grubee and released to probation supervision, to appear at a later date.
