MASSENA — Massena Savings & Loan-Kassian Realty pulled away to a 5-1 win over S&L Electric of Colton in a North Country Men’s Summer Soccer matchup at Mike Nicholas Field on Wednesday.
Jeff Slack opened the scoring off an assist from Ryan Chauvin before Brandon Albert connected for back-to-back goals in boosting the host booters to a commanding 3-0 halftime lead. Josh Tiernan and Jason Hammill connected for second-half goals. Chauvin finished with three assists while Zach Kozsan and Connor Dix logged solo helpers and Alan Davis backstopped the win.
In other Wednesday evening action around the league, CJ’s-Chip’s Place downed Heuvelton 7-0, Cornerstone Services of Potsdam edged Ogdensburg Pepsi-The Place 2-1, and Canton blanked AMP-Jreck Subs 3-0.
CJ’s-Chip’s Place 7, Heuvelton 0: At SUNY Potsdam’s turf field, Willi Steinrotter scored a goal and helped set up two others in the winning effort. Tony Betrus tallied two goals and an assist. Dan Stone and Ben Steinberg netted solo goals. John Jones and Zac Votra each posted an assist while Steinberg and Cook combined to make three saves sharing crease duties.
Potsdam Cornerstone 2, Pepsi-The Place 1: At Clarkson’s Hantz Field, Matt Konecik and Blake Hence scored in the winning effort.
Canton 3, AMP-Jreck’s 0: Colby Young, Travis Jordan and Shawn Brown broke through for the goal while Austin Lamay handled the five shots he faced backstopping the shutout.
