Riverview-Dar’s extends Town and Tavern League lead

The Town and Tavern Modified Softball League produced a trio of double-header splits while Riverview-Dar’s stretched its lead atop the standings to four games in action from this past Monday.

Laughing Crow Winery 10-5, Norwood Legion 8-6: In a pair of tight games from start to finish, Laughing Crow took the lead in the fourth inning of the opener and held on for the win while the nightcap saw Norwood Legion claim a five-inning decision with a walk-off homerun.

MVP Gilbert Jacobs (1K) pitched the win in the first game and anchored the offense with a pair of doubles and two runs scored. Sean Barnes went 4-4 with a homerun. Andrew Stone was 3-3 with a homerun and Mike Bresett connected for a round-tripper.

After Laughing Crow had tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning, MVP Nate Peck launched a walk-off homerun in the bottom half to elevate Norwood Legion to the win. Peck also wound up as the winning pitcher. Also contributing offensively were; Gary Elmer (2-2), Ben Regan (homerun) and Chris McGrath (double).

For Laughing Crow, Barnes completed a perfect night at the plate by going 3-3 with a double and two runs scored. Stone doubled and scored twice while Casey Keating was 2-3 with a pair of doubles.

Pit Stop-Big Boys 19-14, Coast Guard 7-18: In the first game, Pit Stop-Big Boyz scored 11 runs in the third inning to go ahead 12-5 and never looked back for the win. MVP Austin Rush tossed the win, allowing just two runs over the final six frames while going 3-3 with two runs scored. AJ Kormanyos was 3-4 with two doubles and two runs scored and Michael Zelyez went 2-2 with a double and two runs scored.

Offensive leaders for Coast Guard were; Aaron Marshall (3-3, HR, 3RS), Justin Shope (3-3, RS) and Avery Barney (2-3, RS).

In the nightcap, Coast Guard used a decisive seven-run rally in the sixth inning to put a close game out of reach. MVP Jarred Shope went 3-3 with a run scored. Also aiding the winning effort were; Dustin Currier (2-3, 3RS), Devin Paquin (2-3, double, 2RS), Brandon Hewlett (2-2, 2RS), Mike Bell (2-3, double, 3RS) and Josh Barnes (2-2, double, 2RS).

Rampage 15-11, Timber Tavern 9-13: The first game saw Rampage scored eight runs over the final two innings for the win as MVP Jake Pitcher went 4-4 with three runs scored. Alex Williamson was 2-3 with a homerun and two runs scored while Kyle Clemmo tripled, doubled and came around to score twice.

For Timber Tavern, Nick Kenney was 2-2 with two runs scored, Justin Caringi 2-3 with a run scored and Jason Holmes 2-3 with a triple and run scored.

In the second game, Trevor Keleher earned MVP honors after going 3-4 with three doubles and two runs scored to help spark Timber Tavern to the win. Derek Brown was 2-3 with a homerun and two runs scored and JP Sochia rapped a hit while coming around to score twice.

Riverview-Dar’s 11, Gandy Dancer 10: After jumping out to a quick lead on a three-run homerun by Tim Keleher, Riverview-Dar’s held off a late rally to improve to 20-1 atop the league standings.

MVP Patrick Thompson went 2-3 with a homerun to anchor the winning offense. Matt Macaulay was 2-3 with two runs scored and Troy Kovach singled and scored twice.

Ryan Prairie was 3-3 with two homeruns, a double and three runs scored in the losing cause. Jason Newcombe was 2-3 with a run scored and Jason Smith launched a solo homerun.

Parishville Amvets 16, Casino 11: The Amvets overcame a 6-0 deficit and then a late charge before coming away with the win as MVP Matt James went 3-4 with a double and three runs scored. Ryan James was 3-3 with two runs scored and Nick Jerome connected for a pair of hits.

For Casino, Kevin Newtown went 3-4 with a double and two runs scored. Justin Bartholomew was 4-5 with a triple, double and three runs scored while Zaa David had three hits and scored once.
