It is with sadness that we report the passing of Roy “Gumball” Sellers, Baldwin Park, California and formerly of Ogdensburg. Roy died in June surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Roy was born on July 2, 1930 in Potsdam, NY to Earl and Ethel Sellers. He attended Ogdensburg schools and worked for a time at the Ogdensburg Journal as a linotype operator. He married Joyce Fitzpatrick and moved to Baldwin Park, California where he lived his entire life. He worked for Los Angeles Times until his retirement.

Roy is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons, Mike and Tim; one daughter, Sherry; and several grandchildren; two brothers, Earl, Ogdensburg and Pete, North Carolina; two sisters, Vivian Sharpe, Waddington and Jean Ford, Tupper Lake; two half sisters, Rhonda and Paula McMahon, Ogdensburg. He was predeceased by two brothers, TJ, Cranberry Lake and Ron, Ogdensburg; one half brother, Lynn Thornhill, Ogdensburg; three sisters, Barbara Sellers, Ethel Anderson, and Pat Wells; and one half sister, Vaughn Morley, all of Ogdensburg.

Roy loved spending time with his family and being a gracious host for his family and friends who visited him in California on vacation. He loved to travel and spent many years doing so with his family. He was a kind man and a true gentleman who will always be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
