Waddington—Lyle V. Mossow, 72, of LaGrasse St. passed away Friday evening (July 25, 2014) at his home surrounded by his loving family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley. Calling hours for Mr. Mossow will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington. Funeral services for Lyle will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday morning at Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington with Rev. Judy Van Kennan officiating, with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery, Waddington, NY. Lyle was born on January 23, 1942 in Waddington, the youngest of seven children Pborn to the late Clarence and Alice (Francis) Mossow. He attended Waddington schools. A marriage to Gloria Ackerman ended in divorce. He married Linda Davis on November 1, 1974 in Massena, NY. The couple made their home in Waddington and Lyle worked as a fork lift operator at ALCOA, retiring after 30 years of service in June of 1996. Lyle was a member of the ALCOA 25 year club and also a former member of the North Country Pony Association. He enjoyed racing ponies during the 70’s and 80’s in Pyrites and Knapps Station. Along with raising beef and other animals on his “Mini Farm”, Lyle loved going for coffee on Saturday mornings, and helping out at Loomis Quarter horses. Lyle is survived by his loving wife and best friend for over 39 years Linda. His children and their spouses; John Mossow of Lake Charles, LA; Keith and Kay Mossow of Brasher Falls, NY; Shelley and Scott Silver of Massena, NY; and Katrina and Kevin Brassard of Waddington, NY; 9 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Lyle is also survived by four brothers; Donnie and Mickey Mossow, Bernie and Mary Mossow, Chuck and Phyllis Mossow, Joe and Lorraine Mossow and one sister Lorraine and Bob Miller. He is predeceased by a sister, Aletha Hines and a grandson Ryan Joshua Carr. Memorial contributions may be made out to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center 5 Lyon Pl, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
