Pit Stop-Big Boys run past Riverview-Dar’s in Town/Tavern Softball action

Pit Stop-Big Boys relayed a strong start into an 18-7 win over first-place Riverview-Dar’s in Town and Tavern Modified Softball League action from last Thursday.

The eventual winners bolted out to a 7-0 lead through three innings and led 11-6 in the fifth before AJ Kormanyos launched a grand slam homerun in the seventh to put the game out of reach. MVP Nick Belile went 2-3 with a homerun, double and three runs scored to anchor the winning offense. Michael Zelyez went 2-3 with a double and three runs scored while Joe Arney homered and came around to score three times.

Troy Kovach led the way offensively in the losing cause going 3-4 with a triple and run scored as Riverview-Dar’s slipped to 20-2. Fred Kellison was 2-3 with a homerun and double while Thomas Cota was 2-3 with a run scored.

In the other games of the night, Timber Tavern outscored Parishville-Hopkinton 16-14 in eight innings, Casino outlasted Norwood Legion 10-9 in eight innings and Coast Guard held off Laughing Crow Winery 10-9.

Timber Tavern 16, Parishville Amvets 14 (8 innings): Derek Brown homered in the top of the eighth and that held up as the game-winning hit. MVP Trevor Keleher hit for the cycle in going 5-5 with five runs scored. Jake Keleher was 4-4 with four runs scored and Brown wound up going 3-5 with three runs scored.

Jeremy Zenger (homerun, 2RS), Justin Storie (homerun, double, 2RS) and Mark Bailey (homerun) connected for two hits each in the losing effort.

Casino 10, Norwood Legion 9 (8 innings): Casino built a 7-1 lead after two innings before the Legion battled back to tie the game in the top of the seventh on an RBI-single by Jason Gallant that drove in Matt Benware to make it 9-9.

After a scoreless top of the eight, MVP Eric Brabant successfully executed a suicide squeeze bunt with one out in the bottom of the inning to lift Casino to the win. Brabant had two hits earlier in the game. George Arcet was 3-3 with a triple, double and two runs scored. Trevor Austin went 3-3 with a run scored.

Tyler Murray anchored the Legion offense going 3-4 with a double and two runs scored. Travis Quicke also went 3-4 with a pair of runs scored while Benware had two hits and scored twice.

Coast Guard 10, Laughing Crow 9: Coast Guard built a 10-4 lead through five innings before Laughing Crow Winery scored four times in the sixth and once more in the seventh before being denied a full comeback.

MVP Jake Ward went 2-2 with a homerun, double and two runs scored. Aaron Marshall slugged a three-run homerun and scored twice whle Derrick Levac singled and scored a pair of runs.

William North went 3-4 with two doubles and run scored in the losing cause. Sean Barnes was 2-4 with a triple, double and two runs scored while Kirk LaPage singled and scored a run.
