TUPPER LAKE - Devin Delisle of and Adam Szlamczynski both won their fourth consecutive events on the North Country Junior Golf Tournament on Thursday at the Tupper Lake Golf Club.
Delisle fired a round of 72 (+1) to cruise to victory in the 16-18 age division while Szlamczynski shot 39 (+4) to win the nine-hole 12-and-younger division.
Delisle birdied the opening hole, and despite two bogies in the middle of the front, found himself in red figures at one under through 15 holes thanks to birdies at the par 4 7th and par 5 11th. Though Delisle bogied 16 and 17, he remained unbeaten on the junior tour this summer, winning by 13 strokes ahead of Davis Sprague of Malone.
Szlamczynski also posted an impressive nine-stroke victory in his age division thanks to five pars on the opening nine. His 39 was his lowest round of the year by six strokes while Dylan Farr also had his low round of the summer with a 48 to take second.
In the 13-15 age division, Bjorn Kroes and Mark Mahoney earned a spot in a playoff thanks to rounds of 81. Kroes was two under through four holes, but four sixes on the back nine landed him at 10-over for the round. Mahoney posted the low round on the back by three strokes with a 39 to earn his way into the extra holes. After the two players tied on the first playoff hole, Kroes outlasted Mahoney on the 17th to win his second tour event (Malone).
Mike Rice finished in third with an 86, while Danny Christy was fourth with a 90.
Players were called off the course due to lightning in the area for a one-hour delay early in the round.
The tour will wrap up its regular season schedule this Wednesday at the Massena Golf Club. The 2014 Tour Championship will be held on Tuesday, August 12, at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course at St. Lawrence University in Canton.
