Funeral services for Richard L. Ormsbee, age 66 of Ogdensburg will be held on Monday (August 11, 2014) at 2:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Pastor David Phelps officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors. Calling hours will be held also on Monday from 12:00pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mr. Ormsbee passed away at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home on August 7, 2014.

Surviving is his wife Rose; a son Richard Ormsbee & his wife Lisa of North Carolina; a daughter Sharri Ormsbee of Indiana; two sisters Sharon Maxwell of Dickenson Center, NY and Patricia Finley & her husband James of South Carolina; four grandchildren Richard, Jillian & Patrick Ormsbee & Haydn Driver along with many nieces, nephews & cousins. A son Scott Ormsbee along with two brother’s Floyd & Gerald Ormsbee and two sisters Gail Ormsbee & Rose Parsons predeceased him.

Richard was born on August 22, 1947 in Ogdensburg NY a son of the late Sumner & Phyllis (Miller) Ormsbee. He graduated from Heuvelton Central School and entered the United States Airforce in 1966 until 1970 when he received his honorable discharge.

During his career he was employed at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center as an assistant boiler maker from 1977 – 1986 and he later became employed with Joe Ledger as a carpenter until 1990 when he retired. He later married Rose (Cook) Murdock in September 2013 with Pastor David Phelps officiating.

Richard enjoyed bowling, watching sports on TV, playing cards, checkers & chess, riding bikes, walking, fishing, being in nature and with his family. He was a former member of the VFW and Carpenters Union in Watertown. Memorial donations can be made to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center; 5 Lyons Place; Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
