Eunice V. Villnave


Massena: Eunice V. Villnave, 89, of Parker Avenue unexpectedly passed away Thursday evening, August 7, 2014. Friends and family may be received on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 12:00 Noon at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Eunice was born on November 29, 2014 in Malone, NY, the daughter of the late Aldophus and Ida (Bigness) Lamica. She attended schools in Malone and later helped raise her younger siblings.

Eunice married Doran Villnave on October 4, 1963 in Belair, MD, who later passed away in 2000. She was a short order cook at Wright’s Dinner for several years while her children were young. Eunice later went on to own and operate Massena Liquor Store for 25 years. People could remember her for her smile, sense of humor and wittiness.

Eunice is survived by two daughters, Judith and Gil Belair of Massena; Nancy Guilbert of Massena; a son, Donald and Jacqueline LaVarnway of Cornwall; eight grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Villnave is predeceased by four brothers, eight sisters as well as a granddaughter, Tina Mesa who passed in 2007.

Eunice enjoyed spending the day with her children shopping. She also had a passion for cooking for family, friends and whoever else happened to be around the house that day.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Eunice’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
