HARASSMENT - MASSENA - Village police charged Brian E. Davis, 27, of 8 Brighton St., Massena, with second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal mischief - damaging property and fourth-degree criminal mischief - preventing an emergency phone call at 9:31 p.m. Saturday. Police said an allegedly intoxicated Davis was involved in a dispute with his mother, Betty Davis-Hutchins. Ms. Davis-Hutchins, a Potsdam resident, said she had decided to stay at the Brighton Street property she owns so she could start getting things organized and clean to put the house on the market. She said she went downstairs to see what he was doing and told him to turn the music down. She said her son responded by yelling at her, calling her names and pushing her to the floor. She said she injured her lower leg when she fell. She said she went upstairs to get her phone, sat on the steps and tried to call 911 for assistance. Ms. Davis-Hutchins said her son then ripped the phone out of her hands and threw it out the front door. She said she went outside but was unable to locate the phone so she went back inside and sat down in a chair. She told police her son started yelling at her again, kneed her in the upper body and was grabbing at her. She said she had been screaming for assistance, and village police arrived on the scene during the altercation. She said she was upstairs when she heard him throwing things around in downstairs. He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County Jail, Canton, with bail set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.

TRESPASSING - MASSENA - Village police charged Sarah J. Gauthier, 27, of 51 Phillips St., Massena, with trespassing at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Gauthier reportedly went to James Pratt’s residence at 92 Water St. at 2:42 p.m. Saturday and failed to comply with police orders to stop walking up onto his steps.

UNSAFE START - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Jeffrey W. Stone, 59, of Jefferson Avenue, Massena, for making an unsafe start at 4:24 p.m. Saturday on Stearns Street.
