Canton Girls Basketball Camp

CANTON - The Lady Bears Skills Camp will be held Saturday, September 13, at Canton Central School.

This camp is designed for boys and girls Modified, JV and Varsity levels. The purpose is to help prepare players for the upcoming basketball season.

Participants will be evaluated by area coaches through skills and drills and competitive 5 on 5 play. The camp will be hosted at Canton Central School with local college men and women basketball players will be on hand to assist with drills. Boys (Division 1- grades 9-12 and Division 2- grades 7-8) will be held from 8 a.m.-noon and girls (Division 1- grades 9-12 and Division 2- grades 7-8) will be held from 1-5 p.m.

Bass and Walleye Fall Classic

WADDINGTON - The St. Lawrence River Walleye Association will be hosting the Fall Classic, a two-bass and two-walleye team tournament at Whitaker Park on Saturday, September 13, from 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Registration locations include JC’s River Run Bar and Grill (Waddington),Steve’s (Louisville) and Salon 181(Massena). Teams can register until Thursday, September 11, at 6 p.m. thereafter a $10 penalty will be imposed through Saturday’s 7 a.m. launch. Cost is $50 per team and $20 big fish entry (optional). All non-SLRWA members will be charged a $5 conservation fee per person.

Veterans/Soldiers Golf Tourney

CANTON — The Seaway Career and Technical Education Criminal Justice and Culinary Arts Programs will be sponsoring the third Annual Veterans/Soldiers Benefit and Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 20, at the Partridge Run Golf and Country Club.

Registration is at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. start time. Lunch will be included. Raffles and a silent auction will be conducted. Proceeds support the Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures Program, Adopt a Platoon 444, the Canton Reserve Center and military bound student scholarships.

Cost per team is $260 if registered by September 1 and $280 afterward. If sponsoring a hole and entering a team the cost is $300. Hole sponsorships are $100 to honor or memorialize a soldier.

Durr Memorial Golf Tourney

CANTON — The Honest John Durr Memorial Golf Tournament still has openings for more teams on Sunday at St. Lawrence University with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

The format is a 2-man captain and mate (can not have two “A” players with averages of 41 & under).

The tournament entry fee will be $60. This includes 18 holes & cart, playing for first place & second place prizes, prizes at 14 of the 18 holes, a skins game, food at the course and pizza/wings at The Place.

All excess revenues netted will go towards John Durr Scholarship Fund. The 2014 John Durr Summer Classic raised a record $2,000.

Fiacco Memorial Golf Tourney

CANTON — The ninth Annual Meredeth Fiacco Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday at Partridge Run Golf and Country Club.

The tournament will feature a Captain and Crew format and a 9 a.m. shot gun start. The cost is $65 per person or $260 for a foursome which includes cart, green fees and luncheon immediately following at Partridge Run.

Friends of SLU Hockey Golf Tourney

CANTON - The Friends of St. Lawrence Hockey will be holding its annual golf tournament on Saturday, September 20, at the St. Lawrence University Golf Course.

The event features a captain-and-crew format and is slated to begin with a noon shotgun start. All proceeds will be used to support the SLU men’s and women’s hockey programs. Each group will have a player assigned to their team of three.

The cost for golf and dinner is $65 or $10 for the dinner only. Registration is due by September 12.

Hot Shots Bowlers Sought

MASSENA - The Hot Shots League at the Bowlmor is seeking bowlers for the upcoming season.

The league plays on Tuesday evenings with teams consisting of four women and is slated to begin the first week in September. The season lasts for 31 weeks.

Along with bowlers, the league is also looking to expand from four teams to six.

Pre-season Youth Basketball Tournament

POTSDAM - A youth pre-season basketball tournament to take place at Clarkson University in Potsdam on October 11 and 12.

The event will feature boys and girls divisions in grades 5-12. Certified officials will be calling the games and teams will be guaranteed three or more games and a great way to get your team in shape for the upcoming season.

Massena Hockey Registration

MASSEN A - Registration for Massena Minor Hockey will be held at the Massena Arena Lobby on Monday, September 8, Wednesday, September 10, and Thursday, September 11, from 6-8 p.m. each night.
