CORNWALL, ont. - A busy night of action at Cornwall Motor Speedway with six division features staged as Nortrax sponsored the evening.
In the 25-lap Patriot Sprint Tour, Alain Bergeron got the lead over Jared Zimbardi and Lee Ladouceur. First caution was out on lap 3 for Wayne Johnson. Zimbardi took the lead over Bergeron. An accident occurred with six laps down and the red was out as Kyle Fraser had a small flip in turn 4. The front three drivers remained the same on the green. Zimbardi maneuvered well in lapped traffic and completed strong weekend in Canada by sweeping both events over Alain Bergeron and Lee Ladouceur.
A great field of 29 cars took the initial green in the 35-lap Wheeler-Forget Royal Lepage Sportsman Feature event as Robert Delormier took the lead with Billy Cook and Jasmine David. Gilles Godard quickly made his second spot as Delormier had built himself a full stretch lead with 10 laps in the books. Delormier lost his comfortable on lap 15 as yellow was out for Brianna Ladouceur and Joel Herne. Delormier led another four laps when caution was out for Thomas Cook. Godard was able to pass Delormier for the lead as an accident occurred on lap 21. Delormier gained back the lead with Godard and Louie Jackson now in third, lap traffic to play in factor in the final portion as Louie Jackson used the outside and placed his mount in front of Delormier for a photo finish, Jackson captured his second event of the season.
The final event of the evening was the Alexandria Home Hardware 20-lap Pro-Stock feature as a few caution slowed the first portion with veteran George Renaud taking the lead over Jocelyn Roy and point`s leader Dave Bissonnette. Renaud had his hands full with Roy and Ghislain Valade at the halfway point. Renaud managed to stay first and won his first feature of the season over Roy and Valade.
The SpeedSTR group was the first feature on track with 25 laps to be completed, Josianne Plante led the first two laps when the red flag was out for an accident involving three cars in turn 3, everyone was ok. On the restart, Pierre Hébert took the lead over Plante and Frederic Faubert. Hebert survived a few restarts in the first 10 laps as Francis Méthot made his way to second place. Josianne Plante found something at the bottom regained the lead with 10 laps to go. Plante never looked back to win over Hébert and Méthot.
The 15-lap Laminacorr Industries Semi-Pro feature saw Derek Cryderman taking the early over Mathieu Aubin and Patrick Lalonde. Aubin took the lead on a lap 4 restart as Pascal Racette was in the mix. Cryderman got back lead with Racette in second at the halfway as Aubin faded to fifth. Cryderman led the final portion of the event and got his fourth visit in victory lane of 2014.
Wayne Riddell took the lead in the 15-lap Vintage feature, Riddell was strong in front when Brandon Gregory flipped in turn 3 with six laps to go, Gregory was running in second. Riddell had the fastest car and won the event over Steve Arbuthnot.
One of the biggest shows of the season is slated for next Sunday with the Jiffy Auto Service Triple Crown as a total of 10 different champions will be declared including five track champions and five series champion.
