Cynthia S. Whitton


MASSENA – Cynthia S. Whitton, 73, 115 W. 22nd Street, Yuma AZ, formerly of Massena, passed away Saturday morning, August 23, 2014, at her home after a two month illness.

Cynthia was born April 24, 1941 in Potsdam, daughter of the late Kenneth M. and Anne M. Raitt Rowell. She was a 1959 graduate of Massena High School, and was a salesclerk for Sears in Yuma. She was married to Roger K. Whitton and together they had three children who survive.

She loved baking, playing cards & Bunko. She was a very devoted member of the Faith Baptist Church in Yuma, and enjoyed working with the children in Awana and Daniel Clubs, helping them memorize their bible verses. Her greatest enjoyment was the precious time she spent with family and friends. She always loved serving the Lord and now she has joined him and her loved ones who passed before her in heaven.

Cynthia is survived by her three children, Lynn and Fred Cuming, Yuma, AZ; Susan Whitton, Yuman, AZ; and Keith and Rose Mary Whitton, Massena; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Brian K. Rowell, Florida; and her two loving cats, Palmer and Fluffy.

She was predeceased by her father on April 8, 2001; and her mother on July 2, 2004; and her brother Raymond Rowell.

Friends may call Thursday 7-9 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, NY, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM, with burial following at the Louisville Community Cemetery, Lousiville, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made in Cynthia’s memory to the Humane Society of Yuma, 4050 S. Ave4 ½ East, Yuma, AZ 85365, or to Hospice of Yuma, 1824 S. 8th Ave., Yuma, AZ 85364.
