MASSENA - New York State Police are attempting to identify a body that was found at 3 p.m. Friday off state Route 420 in the town of Massena.
In a press release issued Friday evening, they said Massena-based state BCI and uniform personnel responded to a report of a body located off Route 420. They secured the scene, which is being processed by the Troop B Forensic Identification Unit.
St. Lawrence County Coroner Jamie Sienkiewycz responded to the scene and removed the body for an autopsy to be conducted at a later date, according to troopers, who said investigators are attempting to ascertain the identity of the body and searching missing person databases.
They said the investigation is continuing and additional information will be available upon completion of the autopsy.
