Massena: Mary Ann “Mame” Noreault, 65, of Massena peacefully passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice. Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 12:00 pm noon at the Phillips Memorial Home with Rob Schimer officiating. A private burial will take place following services. Mary Ann was born on October 28, 1948 in Amsterdam, NY, daughter of the late Robert and Bertha (Zemken) Dopp. She attended schools in Canajoharie, NY and after graduating, enrolled at Buffalo State University where she obtained a bachelors degree in Special ED. Mary Ann went on to marry Robert Noreault on November 16, 1974 in Malone, NY. She and her late husband were the founders of the Massena Free Trader, which was established in 1981. She went on to operate the business for over 30 years. Mary Ann is survived by her four children: Charles Noreault and companion Kara Widrig of Massena, NY, Joel Noreault of Rochester, NY, Raya Noreault of Highland, NY and John and Dainichia Noreault of Portland, OR; four grandchildren, Raine Michael Noreault, Julian Noreault, Nico and Valyn Noreault; many nieces and nephews. Also surviving Mary Ann are her two sisters, Sandra Neil of Buffalo, NY and Mary Lou Ladison of Chateaugay, NY; two special cousins, Suzan Montanye, Diane Ferguson and all of her Free Trader family. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Noreault in 2004. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Mary Ann’s name to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam, NY 13676 or St. Jude Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
