Potsdam, Massena, P-H weekend soccer tournaments set


Potsdam Central and Massena Central will be hosting their longstanding tournaments this weekend.

The annual Jon Jeffers Tournament in Potsdam kicks-off on Thursday the girls semi-final round matchups. The boys semi-finals are slated for Friday evening. The consolation and championship games for both the boys and girls are set for Saturday morning.

The Massena boys, meanwhile, will be playing host to the annual Bill O’Neill Tournament starting on Friday.

The Parishville-Hopkinton girls soccer team is also kicking off the 2014 season serving as host of its annual tournament starting on Friday.


In the opening round of the girls tournament on Thursday, East Division rivals Colton-Pierrepont and Madrid-Waddington will be squaring off starting at 5 p.m. followed by the host Lady Sandstoners taking on St. Lawrence Central beginning at 7 p.m.

The tournament continues on Friday with the boys first round games as the Sandstoners take on Central Division rival Franklin Academy at 5 p.m. C-P and M-W are also slated to meet in the other game at 7 p.m.

All the opening round games are set to be staged on the turf field.

On Saturday, the girls championship game is set to be played on the turf field and the consolation game on the grass field. Both matchups are slated to start at 9 a.m. Likewise, the boys championship and consolation games will be played on the two field starting at 11 a.m.


At Mike Nicholas Field starting on Friday, the Massena boys will take on Parishville-Hopkinton at 7 p.m. after Salmon River and Hermon-DeKalb square off starting at 5 p.m.

The consolation and championship games are slated for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively on Saturday.


The P-H girls are slated to take on East Division rival St. Regis Falls in their first round game on Friday at 4:15 p.m. while Brushton-Moira and Tupper Lake square off at 4:30 p.m.

The consolation and championship games are Saturday at 9:15 a.m.
