CANTON - An inmate at the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, has been charged with having the narcotic Subutex in his possession at the correctional facility.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies said Tuesday that they had charged Russell F. Dendler, 25, on Aug. 25 with a felony count of first-degree promoting prison contraband. Dendler was charged after police received a report that he was in possession of the narcotic.
He was arraigned by Canton Town Justice Cathleen O’Horo and sent back to the county jail without bail because of two previous felony convictions. He will reappear Sept. 10.
Police said their investigation is continuing and more charges could be filed.
