Winthrop woman jailed after failing to heed police warning

BURGLARY - BRASHER FALLS - A Winthrop woman’s failure to follow a police directive not to return to her boyfriend’s residence Saturday following a domestic dispute resulted in a felony charge and a trip to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.

St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Sandra M. Deshane, 44, of 25 County Route 54, Winthrop, with violations of second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct after an investigation into a reported domestic with her boyfriend Saturday evening at 858 state Route 11C in Brasher Falls.

Deshane was reportedly arguing with Jesse Snyder and refused to follow his order that she leave his residence. When she didn’t, ne called police. When a sheriff’s deputy arrived at the residence, Deshane reportedly walked outside and slapped Snyder in the face.

Deputies said Deshane was advised not to return to the residence but approximately an hour later they were called back to the residence after Ms. Deshane returned. She was charged with a felony count of second-degree burglary and misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief and petit larceny following that incident.

Deshane allegedly stole a dog and removed a portable telephone handset from Snyder’s residence. It broke when she threw it at her boyfriend, according to court documents.

She was arraigned by Stockholm Town Justice Wayne Williams and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
