Katie Semtner Stokes is a rural Oklahoma native. She moved to northern New York in 1999 to attend SUNY Oswego. After graduating, Katie worked briefly as an AFLAC New York sales associate, a Gap girl and as promotion manager at the Watertown Daily Times. In 2005, Katie left The Times to pursue a career as a writer.
She has two children with her husband of nearly ten years. Her blog, NNY Life, offers tips about adjusting to living in northern New York, general observations about life and culture, and embarrassing tidbits about her personal life that probably should not be available for the general public to read (something several friends and family members have tried to gently point out).
Besides blogging, Katie continues her work as a freelance writer and as a work-from-home mommy.
